The Sanford Jazz Ensemble is proud to showcase Jeff Rupert, one of the finest established jazz artists on the scene today, in a program of classic big-band jazz.
Jeff Rupert is a Yamaha performing artist, and enjoys a career as a freelance tenor saxophonist, as well as being full professor and Director of Jazz Studies at UCF.
Rupert’s numerous recordings as a featured soloist include dates with Diane Schuur, Mel Torme, Benny Carter’s Grammy winning recording, Harlem Renaissance (Music Masters), Sam Rivers, Maynard Ferguson, and his own quartet recordings, .Jeff Rupert, Jeff Rupert + Dirty Martini, and Jeff Rupert & Kenny Drew Jr’s From Memphis to Mobile.
Jeff is a long time member of Sam Rivers’ band, with performance and recording at Lincoln Center, for Ed Bradley’s Jazz from Lincoln Center broadcast on NPR. Jeff’s busy tour schedule includes performances in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, the Middle East, South America, Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand. Jeff’s performance schedule includes concerts with Ernestine Anderson, Kevin Mahogany, Benny Green, Ray Drummond, and Joe Farnsworth. In addition, Jeff was a member of the Jaguar International Jazz Series, New Zealand, with Joe La Barbera, Larry Koonse, John Fedchock, and Tom Warrington.

Rupert founded The Jazz Professors whose latest recording on Flying Horse Records charted for seventeen weeks and peaked in the top twenty.
We’re excited to have Jeff perform with us on November 27th at 3 pm. The concert will also featuring Central Florida’s First Lady of Song, Linda Cole!The concert will be at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in Downtown Sanford.
